Man City Join Transfer Chase for Brentford Right-Back Michael Kayode
Manchester City have emerged as serious contenders in the race to sign Brentford right-back Michael Kayode, reports Caught Offside.
Kayode has established himself as one of the most sought-after full-backs in Europe having impressed for the Bees following his switch to the Premier League outfit.
The Italian moved to the west London side on loan at the start of 2025, and the transfer was made permanent last May.
And Kayode’s performances at the Gtech Community Stadium haven’t gone unnoticed, with City among a number of high-profile teams keeping tabs on the former Fiorentina man.
City looking to strengthen defence next summer
City are keen to strengthen their defence over the summer, with right-back an area of concern for Pep Guardiola’s side.
The Cityzens have relied upon Matheus Nunes, a midfielder by trade, in the position and while the Portugal international hasn’t exactly disappointed, City are looking to bring in a natural right-back to ease the burden on the former Wolves man.
However, City aren’t the only side to have shown an interest in Kayode, with Juventus and Inter Milan both reportedly prepared to spend big to bring the 21-year-old back to Italy.
German giants Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for Kayode, while Newcastle and Tottenham are also said to be keeping tabs on the defender.
Kayode has been one of Brentford's star players
Kayode has proven an effective attacking outlet for the high-flying Bees this season having completed more dribbles than any other defender in England’s top tier this term, with 31.
Brentford, though, would demand a hefty fee to cash in on Kayode with the Bees expected to ask for upwards of €40m to consider selling one of their prized assets.
The Bees have made a flying start to the campaign under Keith Andrews and sit fifth in the Premier League table following their midweek 3-0 win over Sunderland.
